Trash Pickup on Holiday Schedule
Wednesday is July 4th, so there will be a one-day delay in trash
pickup.
Fireworks Laws in Arizona
Skyrockets, bottle rockets, firecrackers, Roman candles and
aerials are not permitted under Arizona law because of their
ability to detonate in the air. Residents may use ground
spinners, sparkling-wheel devices and fountain shaped fireworks
on their own property from June 24 - July 6.
Residents of EE are aware of fire danger and unlikely to disturb
your peace with fireworks, but having a hose with a pressure
nozzle at the ready is never a bad idea.
Fiber Arts Inside Again
Fiber Artists will resume their gatherings in the cool
comfort of Jane's house this Thursday at 1 PM.
You don't have to be working on a project to attend, just come
for some social time.
Movie Night
Pre-empted by July 4th this week, but the movie on July
11 at the Ramada at 7:15 PM will be Darkest
Hour, starring Gary Oldman as Winston
Churchill; it is an account of his early days as Prime
Minister, as Nazi Germany's Wehrmacht swept
across Western Europe, threatening to defeat the
United Kingdom. Thanks to Jane and Eric Ellingson for
sponsoring this event. Note that the movies will now be starting at 7:15
since it remains too light at 7:00.
Palm Trimming
Because of the fire hazard posed by tall palms with dry
fronds and the frequent lightning strikes that come with our
monsoon weather pattern, and the Board-imposed deadline of June
30 for homeowners to have their tall palms trimmed now past, the
EE Board will be arranging for trimming of any tall palms at a
cost to be paid by the property owner of $80.00/tree.
Big Cat Alert
Bobcats have been spotted in the neighborhood
recently. A neighborhood dog was apparently attacked by one when
he wandered out alone to the back yard through his doggy door
one evening.
